Consumer-Generated Advertising

Continuous efforts are being made to generate revenue from user-generated content. New trends are emerging and some innovative ideas are being implemented. Consumer-Generated Advertising is a new concept that utilizes the creativity and efforts of the social media. Networks of advertisers and consumer content creators are being formed.

PayPerPost – Get Paid for Blogging is a marketplace or a network of advertisers and independent bloggers. Here, advertisers can register and create an account to promote their web site, products or services. Bloggers can submit their blogs for approval. Once their blogs are approved, they can promote the services and products of their selected advertisers by writing stories or creating video, audio or images and posting them on their blogs. Advertisers pay them for directing traffic, writing product feedback and generating word-of-mouth buzz.

ReviewMe – Write Reviews for Cash is another similar network. It is also a platform connecting advertisers and bloggers. Advertisers can purchase reviews from the network of registered publishers for their web sites or products and services. Reviews start at $40 per review as a one-time fee. Bloggers get paid anything between $20 and $200 for each completed review that is posted on their web site.

Latest update: While talking to Mike McDonald during PubCon: An Exclusive Interveiw, Matt Cutts indicated that participating in ReviewMe or PayPerPost programs and writing paid reviews may affect the search engine rankings of participating blogs. Such links are good for generating traffic and word-of-mouth advertising, though.
